Today in Interstate History
December 4, 1959At a meeting of the Council of State Governments in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, officials sought to address recent news that approximately one billion dollars in Interstate System funds would be cut over the next three years. The officials in attendance, representing a total of 35 states, ultimately agreed to let a governors’ committee appeal directly to President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Congress to have those cuts restored. |
